I submitted my Medicare application. What happens next with ICHRA (CHOICE)?
After you submit your Medicare application, save the confirmation, watch for official Social Security or Railroad Retirement Board notices, and respond quickly if documents are requested. When you receive your Part A and Part B approval details or Medicare Number, the benefitbay Medicare Team can move you into the coverage-selection and ICHRA (CHOICE) activation steps.
Keep the confirmation or receipt number immediately after you apply. Review the application carefully before the final submission because online corrections may be limited afterward. Save all documents in a secure place. They are evidence of when you applied and can help you answer follow-up questions.
Social Security reviews the application and may request more information. Respond quickly. Delays here can put pressure on the rest of the Medicare + ICHRA (CHOICE) timeline because benefitbay cannot complete private-plan enrollment until Parts A and B are approved.
Your approval notice gives the effective dates for Part A and Part B. Your Medicare card follows and includes your Medicare Number. You can also create a secure Medicare account to access your card and plan information.
Once you have your Medicare Number or approval details, provide the information through the authorized benefitbay process. This is the point where the benefitbay Medicare Team can schedule or complete the coverage consultation. A benefitbay licensed Medicare Advisor will use your approved Medicare status, provider list, prescriptions, and priorities to help you complete the coverage decision.
Without active Parts A and B, benefitbay cannot place a Medicare Advantage plan, Medicare Supplement Insurance policy, or Part D plan for the Medicare transition. This is why a fast response to official requests matters.
After approval, you will choose the Medicare route that completes your coverage. The approved benefitbay process then connects ICHRA (CHOICE) to eligible plan premiums before coverage starts. This is where the employer contribution moves from the prior coverage model into the Medicare model.
If you receive a Social Security notice about your Part B premium, Part D income-related surcharge, or IRMAA, keep it. The benefitbay Medicare Team needs accurate premium information to help confirm the payment setup and total Medicare budget.
